The ICTQual Level 2 Award in Work at Height is designed for individuals whose roles involve working at height in environments such as construction, maintenance, telecommunications, wind energy, window cleaning, scaffolding, rooftops, ladders, and elevated platforms.

• Understand what work at height means and where it occurs

• Recognize hazards and risks linked with working at height

• Understand employer and employee legal responsibilities

• Apply risk assessment and control measures for height-related tasks

• Use PPE, ladders, scaffolding, MEWPs, and platforms safely

• Support safer workplaces through effective planning, communication, and fall prevention

Learners will develop the knowledge required to work safely at height, identify risks, comply with legislation, select protective measures, and apply safe working systems in height-related activities.

• Define work at height and identify common tasks and environments where it occurs

• Understand key national and international legislation related to work at height

• Conduct risk assessments and implement effective risk control measures

• Recognize, use, fit, inspect, maintain, and store PPE correctly

• Identify and safely use work equipment and platforms such as ladders, scaffolding, and MEWPs

• Understand and apply fall prevention systems including guardrails, barriers, safety nets, lifelines, anchor points, and other control measures

This course is suitable for individuals whose work involves activities at height, as well as supervisors and managers responsible for overseeing work at height operations.

• Construction workers involved in tasks at height

Learners are expected to meet basic entry requirements to ensure they can understand course content, participate safely, and complete the required assessment.

• Participants should be at least 18 years old, have basic literacy and numeracy skills, and be proficient in the language of delivery

• Participants should be in good physical health; previous experience in construction, maintenance, or related fields is beneficial but not mandatory

Assessment for the ICTQual Level 2 Award in Work at Height is conducted through Approved Training Centres and is designed to evaluate understanding of course content and practical application of safe work at height principles.

• Quizzes consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions

• Assessment of learners’ comprehension of the course material

• Evaluation of learners’ ability to apply concepts in practical work at height situations

• Mandatory minimum passing score of 75%

After completing the Level 2 Award in Work at Height, learners may progress to advanced work at height training, specialist equipment training, supervisory roles, safety qualifications, and sector-specific career pathways.
