The purpose of the Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment – Principles and Practice is to provide the learner with the skills, knowledge and understanding of risk assessment and the importance of Health and Safety including risk assessment processes in the workplace. Learners will understand the relationships between hazard and risk as part of an accident and ill health strategy and apply the hierarchy of controls to control risk to an acceptable level.

How long will it take?

To complete this qualification, learners should expect to undertake 20 hours of learning.

Certificate validity

The Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment is valid for a period of three years.

  • The importance of health and safety in the workplace,
  • The principles of risk assessment,
  • The relationship between hazard and
  • Applying the hierarchy of control to control risk.

This qualification is assessed by Multi Choice Questions (MCQ) and Practical assessment. To Awarded this qualification the Learner must achieve a percentage pass in the MCQ & assessment.

The Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment is open to any learner aged 16 or over. There are no prior qualifications or experience required, however knowledge of Health and Safety legislation would be beneficial.

Yes, learners must successfully complete a multi-choice question paper and a practical assessment in order to be awarded the Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment.

You will be assessed through a combination of multiple choice questions, written evidence and observation-based tasks. All assessment activities must be successfully passed before you can achieve the qualification.

The Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment is valid for a period of three years.

Yes, you will receive a nationally recognised AOSH UK Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment upon successful completion of the course.
