Course Requirements

Entry onto the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Police Leadership and Management requires candidates to meet at least one of the following academic or professional criteria. English language evidence is required for learners not from a majority English-speaking country.

  • An honours degree in a related subject, a UK Level 6 qualification, or an equivalent overseas qualification

  • Mature learners aged 21 or above with relevant management experience in a policing or public service context (learners must check with the delivery centre prior to registration)

  • Alternative professional qualifications with at least three years of relevant work experience in the public service field, including local or national government, non-governmental organisations, voluntary and charitable sectors, or private sector roles supporting public services

  • Evidence of English language competency for learners not from a majority English-speaking country

Assessments

All units within the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Police Leadership and Management are internally assessed by the approved centre and externally verified by OTHM. The qualification is criterion-referenced, meaning learners must demonstrate achievement of all specified learning outcomes and meet all assessment criteria to be awarded a Pass.

  • Written reports for each unit (approximately 3500–4000 words per unit depending on the unit)

  • Internal assessment by qualified and occupationally competent tutors/assessors at the approved centre

  • External verification of all assessed evidence by OTHM

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be applied for individual units where appropriate, subject to OTHM's RPL policy

Progression
