Course Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following entry criteria to be accepted onto the OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management. All learners must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of enrolment.

  • Relevant NQF/QCF/RQF Level 4 Diploma or an equivalent recognised qualification in a related field

  • GCE Advanced Level in 3 subjects or equivalent qualification

  • Mature learners (over 21) with relevant management experience (subject to delivery centre approval prior to registration)

  • Evidence of English language competency for learners from non-majority English-speaking countries (equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or as specified by OTHM's English Language Expectations)

Assessments

All units within this qualification are internally assessed by the approved centre and externally verified by OTHM Qualifications. The qualification is criterion-referenced, meaning learners must demonstrate achievement of all specified learning outcomes and assessment criteria to receive a pass. There are no examinations.

  • Written Assignments (Essays) – primary assessment method for all units, requiring evidence of knowledge, understanding, and critical analysis

  • Reflective Accounts – learners reflect on their own practice and professional development in relation to unit learning outcomes

  • Portfolio of Evidence – learners compile workplace or training-based evidence demonstrating achievement against assessment criteria

  • External Verification by OTHM – all internally assessed work is verified externally by OTHM to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with national standards

Progression

Successful completion of the OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management opens a wide range of academic and professional progression pathways. As an Ofqual-regulated qualification at RQF Level 5, it is recognised across the UK and internationally.
