Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis

Course Requirements

Learners should be able to participate in practical first aid activities and demonstrate CPR, recovery position, and simulated adrenaline auto-injector use safely during assessment.

  • Learners should have sufficient physical ability to kneel on the floor and demonstrate CPR on a manikin

  • Learners should have basic literacy and communication skills to understand instructions, safety information, and assessment requirements

Assessments

Assessment is designed to confirm that learners can demonstrate the practical skills and essential knowledge required for basic life support and management of anaphylaxis.

  • Practical demonstration of casualty assessment, recovery position, CPR, and anaphylaxis management skills

  • Tutor or assessor observation during practical first aid activities

  • Oral or written questioning to confirm underpinning knowledge

  • Pass or fail assessment decision based on achievement of required learning outcomes and assessment criteria

Progression

After successful completion, learners may progress to further first aid, emergency care, workplace safety, healthcare, childcare, or emergency response qualifications at the same level or above.
