Course Requirements

There are no formal academic entry requirements for this qualification. ProQual requires that centres carry out an initial assessment of each candidate's existing skills and knowledge in order to identify any gaps and to plan the assessment accordingly. Candidates must be in active employment on a live construction project to generate the required workplace evidence. Specific practical expectations include:

  • Candidates must be currently working in a relevant senior site inspection, clerk of works, quality inspector, or equivalent construction management role

  • Candidates must be able to generate authentic workplace evidence including site inspection records, reports, correspondence, risk assessments, quality control documentation, and similar project documents

  • Candidates must have access to a qualified assessor and an internal quality assurance verifier at an approved ProQual centre

  • Centres must hold ProQual approval to offer this qualification; unapproved centres must complete and submit the ProQual Additional Qualification Approval Application before delivery

Assessments

This is a fully competence-based qualification. There are no written examinations or classroom-based tests. Candidates are required to demonstrate their level of competence in the workplace by compiling a portfolio of evidence that covers all learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each completed unit. All workplace evidence must be authentic and cannot be simulated. The qualification must be assessed in accordance with the ConstructionSkills' Consolidated Assessment Strategy for Construction and the Built Environment. Evidence types that may be included are:

  • Observation report completed by the assessor in the workplace

  • Portfolio of evidence including assignments, projects, and written reports produced in the workplace

  • Professional discussion between the candidate and assessor, conducted face-to-face or remotely

  • Witness testimony provided by a relevant third party familiar with the candidate's work

  • Candidate product evidence such as site inspection reports, quality records, certification documents, and correspondence

  • Record of oral and written questioning and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) where applicable
