Course Requirements

Entry onto the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring is subject to official entry criteria set by OTHM. All applicants must satisfy the following minimum requirements before registering for the programme.

  • An honours degree in a related subject, a UK Level 6 diploma, or an equivalent overseas qualification

  • Mature learners without a first degree must hold relevant management experience (applicants must check with the delivery centre regarding the required evidence of experience prior to registering)

  • Learners must be 21 years of age or older at the beginning of the course

  • Learners who are not from a majority English-speaking country must provide verified evidence of English language competency in line with OTHM's English Language Expectations

Assessments

All units within this qualification are internally assessed by the approved centre and externally verified by OTHM. The qualification is criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all specified learning outcomes, with no timetabled written examinations.

  • Coursework assignments: each unit is assessed through a written coursework assignment of approximately 4,000 words

  • Criterion-referenced assessment: learners must provide evidence demonstrating fulfilment of all learning outcomes and all assessment criteria for each unit

  • Internal assessment and marking: judgement of learner achievement is made by the centre assessor, who must provide a clear audit trail of the overall grading decision

  • External verification: all assessed work is externally verified by OTHM to ensure national standards are consistently applied

Progression

The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring supports learners in meeting requirements for work and employment within all areas of management, leadership, coaching, and mentoring at this level. Because the qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual, learners are eligible to progress to a master's top-up at many UK and overseas universities with advanced standing.

  • Progress to a Master of Business Administration (MBA) or MA top-up with advanced standing at UK and international universities recognised by OTHM

  • Progress to the dissertation stage (60 credits) at a UK university to achieve a full master's degree
